The American Meditation Society was founded in 1976 as a non-profit, non-sectarian educational organization devoted to the spiritual teachings of Gururaj Ananda Yogi. AMS is organized and maintained on a volunteer basis by its members.

The registered emblem of the American Meditation Society represents an acknowledgment of the universal spiritual truth. Symbols of the world’s great religions are arranged around a central lamp, which represents the flame of divinity in each person’s heart. AMS recognizes that every individual has a unique and personal path to divinity. Our meditation practices are designed to help each of us follow that path.
